Why longboat tours?

Countless tributaries join the Amazon as she flows through one of the planet’s last great wilderness areas. Imagine a forest kingdom nearly the size of Australia, interlaced with creeks, streams, lagoons and rivers that flow into one main artery, carrying fresh water from the Peruvian Andes to the Atlantic Ocean. The Amazon is home to some of the world’s most exotic plants, birds, fish and animals and sits very close to the equator. There’s no better way to explore the essence of the Amazon River than making a longboat tour along the igarapé (Amazon waterways).

Nocturnal wildlife excursions

As many animals of the Amazon are nocturnal creatures and can only been observed in the darkness, we set out on a longboat tour in the evening. If we are lucky enough, we will be able to spot caimans, swimming in the dark right beside our boat!
